Shalini Katikaneni, MD
Affectionately known to her patients as “Dr. K”, Dr. Shalini Katikaneni treats a broad range of conditions and is a strong advocate for preventive care. Her background in internal medicine allows her to manage patients with complex medical histories. She is board-certified in internal medicine and has been treating patients in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for more than 15 years. Her goal as a primary care physician is to keep her patients healthy and to respond to illnesses with treatment plans tailored to individual needs. Dr. Katikaneni is an active member of The Obesity Society (TOS), Texas Medical Association (TMA), and American Medical Associates (AMA).
When establishing medical care plans for her patients, Dr. K believes that each patient’s needs and concerns must be heard and understood. She always concentrates on the individual sitting in front of her and their presenting symptoms. With the philosophy that the patient and doctor are a team, Dr. K makes it a priority to explain test results and provide thorough treatment plans. Her goal is to ensure that the patient is engaged in their own health care and can therefore be an active participant. Establishing long-term relationships with her patients is an essential part of her practice. Dr. K encourages open communication and strives to connect with each person she treats. This approach translates to personalized care that completely addresses patients’ needs and concerns.
Della Mathew, MD
Della Mathew, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician. As she progressed through her medical training, Dr. Mathew found that helping others lead healthy lives and improve their lifestyles was her calling. Dr. Mathew focuses on treating patients holistically and making sure she understands their unique concerns, so she can offer the best treatments. She has more than 18 years of experience treating various chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Her main goal is to help patients improve their overall wellness through preventative lifestyle changes, nutritional management, and specialized medical attention.
During office visits, Dr. Mathew takes time to listen closely to each patient, and she treats every person with kindness and consideration. An appointment with Dr. Mathew provides you with undivided attention, so you obtain assistance and treatment customized to your individual needs.
Tam Kang, PA-C
Tam Kang is a certified physician assistant who joined the medical team at Prime Internal Medicine Associates in May 2022. Tam has more than 8 years of experience as a primary care provider. The last 4 years of her focus have been dedicated to adult medicine with emphasis on preventive medicine, obesity medicine, and functional medicine. She particularly enjoys serving the geriatric population and managing chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, asthma, and mental health conditions.
Tam encourages all her patients to actively engage in their medical care. She welcomes individual challenges and tailors her patients' needs accordingly. Your visits with her will typically entail discussions around your health values, setting expectations, and creating a roadmap to reach your end goals. She finds joy in practicing medicine, as it allows her to be an advocate for her patients, and ultimately a partner in their health journey.
